Is Light Really Faster Than Sound?

Light does indeed travel faster than sound, but when it comes to God, the SOUND of His Word preceded the existence of LIGHT. God spoke, and then the light came forth! So His Word will always outpace the light. That’s why even during the dark times, I have to walk by faith not by sight and trust the sound of the Shepherd’s voice…”Let there be light!”

Royal by Birth or Royal by Death

April 29, 2011 marked the epic marriage of Prince William to former flight attendant and commoner Catherine Middleton. Every young girl’s dream, she married a prince and became the “Duchess of Cambridge.” William is royal by birth, Catherine by marriage, but we’ve been made royal by death – the Death, Burial, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Yes, the true Royal Blood of the Lamb has redeemed us all. Now we’re “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people” or God’s own possession! Welcome to your very own coronation from the true King of Kings! See I Peter 2:9

To Rebel is to Repel

Yet honor me [Saul] now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and beforeIsrael, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God. (I Sam. 15:30)

Once the most humble man in Israel, rebellious Saul was stripped of his kingship. When told of God’s rejection, Saul quickly sidesteps his relationship saying the “Lord THY God.” In stark contrast, David’s vocabulary is replete with relationship in Psalms, “I will love thee, O LORD, my strength, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer; my God…” (18:1-2). Remember, when you rebel, you repel your relationship with God!

The King's "Most Wanted" List

And the king said, Is there not yet any of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him? (2 Sam. 9:3)

At age 5, a freak accident handicapped Mephibosheth for life; changing his name from Meribbaal “striver with Baal” to “shame or reproach.” Now he’s on King David’s “Most Wanted” list? Once found, David gracefully extended to Mephibosheth the dubious lifetime honor of sitting at the king’s table. You too are on the King’s “Most Wanted” list! Jesus invites “whosoever will” the eternal privilege of dining at His table saying, “I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.”

Faith is a FORCE!

Faith is more than a fuzzy word we throw out to encourage someone to believe God will answer their prayer. Faith is a FORCE! Faith is a force so great that just a “mustard grain’s” worth of it will move an entire mountain. By faith patriarchs of old subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens! Sound like a buzz-word, or a force of nature to you? (Heb. 11:33-39)

The Devourer's Days are Numbered

I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; (Mal. 3:11) What’s the Devourer been consuming in your life? Does it seem like you’re running out of time, money, and patience? When we fail to give God the “first fruits,” it’s open season for the Devourer. But, by entrusting God FIRST with our time, money, and resources, the Devourer’s days are numbered! Stress is low, blessings flow, and the crops grow, when God’s in control of the show!

How Do I Renew My Mind?

Romans 12:2 says, “Be ye TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of your mind…”

HOW DO I RENEW MY MIND?!

Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…”

Here’s why the Cross couldn’t whip Jesus!

Hebrews 12:2 says, “He despised the shame of the Cross!”

But when they were putting the nails into His body….HIS FOCUS WASN’T THE NAILS!

His focus was on the JOY that was before Him!

And if you are going to gain the mind of Christ; you’re going to have to get your mind off “THE NAILS” in your life, and get your mind wrapped around this idea, “AFTER THIS….I’m going to get my stuff”!

Putting the Brakes On

Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart (Ps. 26:2). Anyone who knows me well knows I’m not a mechanic. I have on occasion changed brakes on cars. When finished, the daunting task of “trying” them out can be frightening. But any work performed must be tried out. God is working on each of us, and at times we need our “reins” tried to “prove” the work is done well. Remember, it’s great to be on the move in God, but there will be times we need the brakes put on to prove the work God’s doing in our life!

A Time to Forget

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:13-14)

Paul was relentless in his pursuit of God! However, If he was ever going to become for God, all that God intended him to be…

There were 3 things that Paul HAD to forget….

  1. He had to forget his past accomplishments.
  2. He had to forget his past crimes against the Truth.
  3. He had to forget the wounds in his life caused by others.

Containing the Creator

But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee. (I Kings 8:27) Wise Solomon knew it was futile to even try to contain the Creator of the universe, but if anyone could do it, God could and did. Col. 2:9 says, “In him [Jesus] dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” Incredibly, He went even further, “You are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you;” (I Cor. 3:16). Praise God for His Spirit; the earnest of our inheritance!
