I Met God

I Met God
by Ralph Cushman

I met God in the morning,
when my day was at its best.
And His Presence came like glory,
a sunrise in my breast.

All day long His Presence lingered,
all day long He stayed with me…
And we sailed in perfect calmness,
O’er a very troubled sea.

Other ships were blown and battered;
Other ships were sore distressed.
But the winds that seemed to drive them,
Brought to us such peace and rest.

Then I thought of other mornings,
With a keen remorse of mind.
When I too had loosed the moorings,
with the Savior left behind.

So I think I know the secret,
learned from many a troubled way…
You must seek God in the morning,
if you want Him in the day

Great Givers

Great givers hold nothing back.

They go the extra mile –

Cheerfully.

Their motives are pure,

Their commitment is sure.

Sacrifice is not a stranger,

Nor is it a burden.

They gladly spend and are spent.

They see the end of the matter

And count that joy worth

Every investment.

The reward they seek

is an

Eternal “Well Done!”

Great Givers:

Jesus

God's Order or Ours?

What glorious paths can be ours when we tap into, and allow God’s Order to become our own! From the beginning we can see that our God is indeed a God of order. He is NOT chaotic, but very methodical; structuring our world from the very seed out…to include all of life that is. And placing within that seed that which will sustain and propagate life through the ages.

The Problem comes when we, that is Man, begins to worship the order over the God of the order (in his search of an image). And when God does not grace us with His Presence, due to our sins, or whatever…we (like Saul) take it upon ourselves to do it on our own. We order the thing and present “our thing” as “God’s thing” and try to manipulate, dominate and coerce others into it, with a great degree of exclusivity involved. (After all, IT IS, ‘our thing’) and we end up with something that kinda resembles God…and yet, not at all. For at its heart it is corrupt and flesh based.

The Answer is IN You

We keep looking for the answers to come from outside us, but God promised Eve that her “seed” would deliver her!  What God births FROM US is the thing that will deliver us!  “OUT OF YOUR BELLY shall flow RIVERS of living water!

Eve believed God’s Word SO much when she bore a son, She said, I’ve gotten a “man” from God.  Her faith was that this child was her Promise!  Every time she birthed a son she had the hope this could be the One who would destroy the thing destroying her…Her “seed”…Whatever God speaks into you…His Word CANNOT FAIL, IT WILL COME TO PASS!

He IS

In every dark valley…He’s the Lily of my Valley
In every darkest hour before dawn…He’s my Bright and Morning Star
In every dry, arid desert land…He is my Dayspring from on high
When I’m sorrowing…He’s my Comforter
When I need direction…He’s my Guide
When I need understanding…He’s my Counselor
When I’m in turmoil…He’s my Prince of Peace
When I’ve sinned…He’s my Advocate with the Father…Jesus Christ the Righteous!

CONVINCED!

John 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.

It is NOT enough to believe Truth; we must believe it enough to LIVE IT!

Peter said, We believe AND ARE SURE…We’re CONVINCED that you’ve got it!  And we won’t find it ANYWHERE ELSE!  Whether I understand or I don’t understand! I’M CONVINCED!

When people can walk away from Jesus, for whatever reason…they testify by their going they were NEVER truly CONVINCED that Jesus has the words to eternal life.

Revival God's Way

Many years ago Pastor Jeff Arnold preached a sermon titled “Formula for a Cloudburst”.  What a message it was!  I believe it stands today as a landmark Word from God to His people, concerning the “nuts and bolts” mechanics of how to start and sustain revival in ANY church.  It will work, if we will!

7 Points to ponder…from 1 Kings 18:1, 30-46….

1.     Learn to hear from God for yourself.

2.     Repair everything of God that’s broken down in your life.

3.     Put it all back into God’s order.

4.     Pray with proper motives.

5.     Let His fire fall in your life.

6.     Kill all the false!  All the phoniness.

7.     Pray!  And GO AGAIN!

Resurrection Day

Jesus’ Resurrection Day came with a “Well Done! Thou Good and Faithful Servant! Enter in to the JOY of the LORD!”

May our “Resurrection Day” receive the “like” commendation…

What greater joy could there be?

How Do I Renew My Mind?

Romans 12:2 says, “Be ye TRANSFORMED by the RENEWING of your mind…”

HOW DO I RENEW MY MIND?!

Philippians 2:5 says, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…”

Here’s why the Cross couldn’t whip Jesus!

Hebrews 12:2 says, “He despised the shame of the Cross!”

But when they were putting the nails into His body….HIS FOCUS WASN’T THE NAILS!

His focus was on the JOY that was before Him!

And if you are going to gain the mind of Christ; you’re going to have to get your mind off “THE NAILS” in your life, and get your mind wrapped around this idea, “AFTER THIS….I’m going to get my stuff”!

A Time to Forget

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:13-14)

Paul was relentless in his pursuit of God! However, If he was ever going to become for God, all that God intended him to be…

There were 3 things that Paul HAD to forget….

  1. He had to forget his past accomplishments.
  2. He had to forget his past crimes against the Truth.
  3. He had to forget the wounds in his life caused by others.
