My Hymn to HIM

hymntohim (1)A short verse penned in a lucid moment of creativity as I pondered how inadequate my praise is in aptly describing the power, majesty, and sheer glory of God Almighty. ~ RDM

If each pedal from each flower blooms,
Each tree bring fruit to bear,
Each bird its anthem ring at once,
Your praise to fill the air.

If fountains of raindrops, and crashing of waves,
The tide retreating from shore,
In harmony break forth in chorus,
God’s Glory to implore.

Were the wind to whisper then muster a gust,
Or the whirlwind bluster with force;
All pale in meager homage,
To rival their Ultimate Source.

Your Glory spans the universe LORD,
Your Power knows no end,
Your Mercy is everlasting,
Your Love greater than any friend.

It’s Your air I breath, Your Life in my limbs,
Each day is a blessing from You,
May each step I take, each thought I think,
Each moment Your Glory shine through.

Try as I may to sum all Your works,
On pages in books to write,
My time on Earth will not be enough,
Writing from dawn until night.

My finite thoughts are inadequate,
My attempts more feeble than most,
To express my heartfelt gratitude,
For each day YOUR Glory grows.

Don't Wait Till Morning to Get Your Joy

WaitMorningFor his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning. Psalm 30:5

A couple of preachers were banished to prison for preaching this gospel message of Christ crucified, raising again on the 3rd Day, and then ascending back up into Heaven.

They were bound and thrown into a dungeon for preaching that Christ shed His innocent blood for the sin of mankind. For preaching that you must be baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit!

But as they sat shackled in the stocks, Paul and Silas weren’t about to wait until the morning for their JOY!

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. 26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed. (Acts 16:25-26)

  • At the darkest point of the night…
  • At the lowest point of the ministry…
  • In the worst of conditions…

These courageous preachers forgot about their shackles, and their hopeless situation. After all, God wasn’t any less deserving of praise.

Like Paul and Silas, don’t wait for the morning to start praising and thanking God!

Don’t wait until the doors of your prison open before you praise and worship God!

Don’t wait until the morning to start getting your JOY!

Starting praising God in your “night season” until your prison doors open.

Start praising God until your JOY comes.

Knowing vs. Feeling

For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:  Job 19:25

A great deal of what we do is predicated by what we feel. Our society is all about doing whatever makes us feel good. Think about how many times a day you say these words, “I feel like…or I don’t feel like.” But, what about a level of living that goes beyond what we feel and centers more around what we know?

Folks that live in this dimension are more driven. For example, we know exercise is good for us, and if we determined to do it only when we felt like it, with few exceptions, we just plain wouldn’t do it. We know that eating certain food is healthy for us, so our choices, if lead by knowing vs. feeling will include, according to nutritionists, are better for you.

When living for God, there is a time we must fall back upon what we know and less upon what we feel. Knowing God’s Will and Word, will take you much farther than just “feeling” it. Our feelings are so fickle. If we waited until we felt like praising God, our flesh would soon win out.

Job couldn’t change the way he felt about his dilemma, but he tapped into a vital resource, his knowledge of who his redeemer is! Life is going to make you feel highs and lows. Your moods will change like the wind, but what should never change is what you know God is capable of…exceeding, abundantly above all that we could ask or think!

Disposed to Dispose

For there is no respect of persons with God. Romans 2:11

We live in a disposable society. We eat off of paper plates, drink out of plastic cups and use throw away napkins. We shave with disposable razors, take pictures with throw-away cameras, clean our houses and baby’s backsides with disposable wipes and we even have what the accountants call, “disposable income!”

Dare I say, this “throw-away” mentality can even creep into our spiritual walk…

  • We swap churches and faiths like name brands
  • We wait until we’re in a good mood to praise God
  • We don’t like this sermon, so we’ll wait for the next one

This disposable mentality can have us even feeling that way about people…

  • We avoid praying with people because the look “different”
  • We only share Christ with the “normal” people
  • We only help others when it benefits us

God’s commandments are not based on OUR “personal preferences!” We are to be lead by God’s Love and Mercy! God’s Kingdom is eternal, comprised of the souls of humanity. Don’t cast aside opportunities to share God’s unmerited grace and unfailing love with everyone…not just those we “deem” worthy. No soul is disposable to God – He gave His only begotten Son to save us ALL!

Where God Dwells

God has always desired to commune with His Creation. “Where are you?” God called to a missing Adam in the cool of the day (Gen. 3:8). God inhabits the praises of his people (Ps. 22:3). God is with the humble in spirit (Isa. 57:15). He is close to those with broken heart (Ps. 34:18). Now we have gone from God dwelling around us, near us, or even by our sides, to “Christ in us, the hope of glory (Co. 1:27)!
