A Time to Forget

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (Phil. 3:13-14)

Paul was relentless in his pursuit of God! However, If he was ever going to become for God, all that God intended him to be…

There were 3 things that Paul HAD to forget….

  1. He had to forget his past accomplishments.
  2. He had to forget his past crimes against the Truth.
  3. He had to forget the wounds in his life caused by others.

Containing the Creator

But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee. (I Kings 8:27) Wise Solomon knew it was futile to even try to contain the Creator of the universe, but if anyone could do it, God could and did. Col. 2:9 says, “In him [Jesus] dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” Incredibly, He went even further, “You are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you;” (I Cor. 3:16). Praise God for His Spirit; the earnest of our inheritance!

Rejoice IN THE LORD

As humans we have a tendency to rejoice in tangible things…new car, nice home, well behaved kids, great job, etc…and the devil encourages this.

He wants us to rejoice in those “things” he can shake…new car breaks down…something happens to the house…kids act out…get laid off…and your joy goes out with the thing!

But when you rejoice in the God of your Salvation and the Finished Work of Jesus Christ, you place your joy, where it CANNOT BE COMPROMISED…IT IS SURE AND EVERLASTING!

Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name (Mal. 3:16). The Lord loves being the subject of your conversations, the object of your affections, and the center of your attention. He so enjoys this, He’s writing a book about it! The starring role is none other than Y-O-U! It’s sure to on Heaven’s Best Seller List.

The Daily Grind

The Philistines took him, and put out his eyes…and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house. (Jud. 16:21) Samson was banished to the daily “grind” of prison. He literally walked in circles. But, with each turn of the grinder wheel, his strength returned. Your trials have you walking in circles. Progress can be slow, but under the Master’s artful eye, each turn of the wheel reveals yet another facet of His Love. And, you never want that to come to a “grinding” halt!

Power of a "God Perspective"

The call of the Spirit to us, and urging of faith among us; as we stand on the edge of destiny is…SEE!

Open your eyes and SEE! I place it all before you. Now go take the land before you; It’s ALL in your hands.

Yet the only way we can SEE is to have our focus changed. To realize as Joshua did…(Joshua 6:2)

IT’S NOT ABOUT US!  In all of our religiosity, and lack of spiritual Purpose…

AND IT’S NOT ABOUT THEM! The world with its spirit of antichrist…

It will only happen as we have our minds changed to a “God Perspective”, and understand IT’S ALL ABOUT HIM…His kingdom, His glory!

Unfair Trade

My thoughts become cluttered. Heaven’s windows seem shuttered. Some days I struggle to breathe.
Stress closes in, my patience wears thin, and the fog so thick I can’t see.
But all hope is not lost, when I consider the cost Christ paid to set my soul free.
My rags for a robe, and riches untold, my sins buried deep in the sea.
How could I despair, this trade is not fair, when it was I who belonged on that tree?
The guilt was all mine, but His Glory Divine, paid the full ransom for me!

Strange Things

“We’ve seen strange things.” (Luke 5:26) Just how strange was it that a bedridden man was made whole; physically from palsy, and spiritually from sin? What seems even more strange, is when the “Lord is present to heal,” we stand idly by, and allow our affliction; physical, spiritual, emotional or otherwise, to paralyze our faith in Christ. It’s high-time, to lift the “roof” off our thinking, and raise the expectations of what other seemingly “strange” things God CAN and WILL do in our lives!

Simple Obedience at the River Jordan

The leprous Naaman was commanded by Elisha to dip in the River Jordan 7 times to be healed. There were no special properties in the river that cured Naaman, it was simple obedience! 850 years later, John baptized Jesus in that same River Jordan. Again, no special properties to wash away sins in the water, it was simple obedience! Praise the Lord, the blood of Jesus forgives sin through baptism in His Name, when we simply obey!

Humble Beginnings

Moses started out a basket case. David was a sheepish boy. Solomon was a sleeper. And, Jonah was fish bait. Moses went on to lead Israel to the Promised Land. David was “giant-killing” man after God’s own heart. Solomon was the wisest man of his day. Jonah preached a revival message that saved a nation. Don’t underestimate God’s resourcefulness in your life. He even used a vocal donkey to save a prophet’s life!
